Referring friends to the waitlist
Yes, you’re welcome to refer friends and family to Prolific! Simply encourage them to sign up to the waitlist. Keep in mind that in general, you won’t receive payment or notifications about their progress — your friend will be notified if and when they’re invited to the platform, but we’re unable to say how long the wait may be.
Referral program
Occasionally, Prolific runs a paid referral program to recruit participants who meet specific eligibility criteria. The referral page will only appear in your Prolific account if the program is currently live and you are eligible to take part.
How the referral program works
If you are eligible for the referral program or have active referrals, you'll find everything you need on the referral page in your Prolific account.
The eligibility criteria for referrals will be shown on the referral page, including the minimum number of studies your referred friend must complete before you receive your reward.
Your reward is paid automatically once a referral is marked as Successful — no action is needed from you. If a referral is marked as Incomplete, no reward will be issued.
Referral statuses
You can track your referrals on the referral page. Here's what each status means:
Status | What it means |
Awaiting action | Your friend has been invited but hasn't signed up yet. |
Signed up | Your friend has successfully created their Prolific account. |
Successful referral | Your friend has completed all the required conditions. Your reward will be paid automatically. |
Incomplete referral | Your friend didn't meet the referral criteria or failed verification checks. No reward will be issued for this referral. |
