What is an AI tasker?
AI taskers are a specialized group of Prolific participants with proven skills in completing AI evaluation and training tasks. You'll join this group after passing our AI Task Assessment.
As an AI tasker, you get access to exclusive AI studies that call for specific experience and skills. Researchers use this group to find skilled participants for training and testing AI models, so you'll play a key role in advancing cutting edge research.
How do I become an AI tasker?
You'll need to pass our AI Task Assessment to join the AI tasker group. This is a test with two parts, designed to simulate real world AI studies.
Here's how it works:
Prolific identifies participants who meet certain criteria, like high approval rates and strong performance on past studies.
We invite these participants to complete the AI Task Assessment.
A couple of things worth knowing:
Not passing the assessment doesn't affect your Prolific account status.
Passing gives you access to more well paid AI studies.
What changes if I become an AI tasker?
Your general Prolific experience stays the same. You'll still see and take part in regular studies, and as an AI tasker, you'll also see additional AI focused studies in your dashboard.
Here's how to recognize these studies:
Look for labels marking AI tasker studies on your dashboard.
Once you complete your first AI study, this label also appears on your submission management page.
You decide whether to take part in these studies, just like any other.
What does being an AI tasker involve?
As an AI tasker, you'll work on advanced tasks that involve evaluating and training AI models. Your contributions might include:
Reviewing AI model outputs for accuracy and relevance.
Fact checking AI generated information.
Providing detailed insights and feedback.
These tasks are usually more complex than regular studies, so they tend to come with higher pay. By taking part, you directly help refine and improve AI technologies.

What if I’m not selected to be an AI tasker?
Nothing changes about your Prolific experience if you aren't selected. You'll still enjoy well paid studies as normal. Joining this group is entirely optional and doesn't impact your account.
If you are selected, you'll see specialized AI studies appear on your dashboard, clearly marked as AI tasker studies.
Are AI studies paid differently?
The base pay is the same as other studies. However, because these tasks are often more complex, they typically come with higher rewards.
What if I want to become an AI tasker but haven’t been invited?
We're starting small and gradually rolling out this group. If you haven't been invited yet, don't worry, we hope to expand access soon.
What if I change my mind about being an AI tasker?
No problem. You can simply ignore the specialized studies in your dashboard if you don't want to take part.
