Researchers are looking for participants with specific language skills. We're building a pool of verified language experts to help meet that need. To join, take a short assessment that verifies your fluency in a language you speak.
This isn't a paid study - it's an unpaid assessment. Once you pass, you'll get access to language-based studies as they become available.
How do I get access to this assessment?
If we think you might be a good fit for our language expert pool, you’ll find the assessment on your study dashboard. We base this on profile information like the languages you speak, so make sure your About You answers are up to date.
What does the assessment involve?
Takes about 30-45 minutes to complete
Requires a camera, microphone, and speakers or headphones
Tests your fluency in that language and verifies your skills for researchers
Requires a quiet room with no background noise or interruptions
Requires the assessment tab to stay open, with no other tabs, windows, apps, or outside help
Can only be taken once, so make sure you're ready before you begin - leaving or timing out early may affect your ability to complete it
For details on how Prolific handles your data during the assessment, see Prolific's Privacy Notice.
Will I get paid for taking the assessment?
No. The assessment itself is unpaid. Passing it makes you eligible for language-based studies, which typically pay competitively. Researchers pay you for those studies via Prolific, just like any other study on the platform. We can't guarantee how many studies researchers will run, or when.
How do I access more studies after I pass?
Once you pass, new language-based studies will appear on your dashboard as they become available. You don't need to do anything else in the meantime.
What if I don't pass?
This won't affect your account status. You can keep using Prolific as normal and take part in the studies you're already eligible for.
I completed the assessment but didn't get the usual study feedback. Is that normal?
Yes, that's expected. Because this is an assessment and not a study, you won't see the return or feedback screen you're used to after finishing a study.
That's it - you're all set. If you pass, new language-based studies will appear on your dashboard as they roll out.
