We're currently testing this feature with a subset of participants. If you don't see "Unlock more opportunities" on your dashboard yet, don't worry. It simply means this feature isn't available to you yet.
"Unlock more opportunities” is a call-out that flags quick things researchers need from you right now, such as verifying a skill, confirming your language fluency, or answering a few extra profile questions. Completing them may help you become eligible for more paid studies.
Completing these actions helps researchers find you for studies that match your unique background and expertise, so you get access to more paid opportunities over time.
How it works
Look for the "Unlock more opportunities" call-out near the top of your dashboard
Click it to open a drawer showing your available actions
Choose an action to complete, starting with anything marked "Needed now," since these reflect what researchers need most right now
Complete the action to become eligible for studies that require it
You'll see a number next to the call-out that tells you how many actions you haven't checked out yet. Once you've viewed all your current actions, the call-out stays on your dashboard as a helpful reminder, but the number disappears so you always know when there's more to explore.
FAQs
Do I have to complete these actions?
No, completing these actions is entirely optional, but doing them can increase the number and variety of studies you're eligible for.
Will this affect studies I'm already eligible for?
No, "Unlock more opportunities" doesn't remove or restrict any studies you can already access. It simply opens up additional ones.
How often do new actions appear?
New actions can appear as researchers' needs change, so it's worth checking back on your dashboard from time to time.
Does completing an action guarantee me a spot on a study?
No, completing an action makes you eligible for relevant studies, but spots are still limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Why can't I see "Unlock more opportunities" on my dashboard?
This feature is part of a test, so it's currently only available to a subset of participants. If you're not in the test group, you won't see it on your dashboard right now. This has no effect on the studies you're eligible for or your account's standing on Prolific.
Have a look at your dashboard and see what's there. Any action you complete now could open up more studies down the line.
