PEC-PV-0001 error

Why the PEC-PV-0001 error appears when verifying your phone number, and how to fix it.

This article covers guidance for the PEC-PV-0001 error message. You can find guidance for our other error codes in PEC errors.

What does it mean?

Our verification checks couldn't confirm that your phone number is in the same country as your account. This usually happens with VOIP numbers or other non-standard phone services, since they don't reliably show where you actually live the way a standard mobile number does. If your number is a VOIP or similar service, we likely can't use it to verify your account. Learn more in How do I verify my account?

What can I do?

  1. Check your country of residence is correct on your Account page, under Residential address

  2. Enter the correct country code, for example +44 for the UK

  3. Use a number from a standard mobile provider, not a VOIP or Wi-Fi calling service

  4. If your verification text never arrives, try a different mobile number
